The History of Vohra Method Group Classes

Education is like medicine, fashion, and food: one size doesn’t fit all. Individualization is the difference between excellent education and junk.

When I started my education business, I had no intention of ever having group classes. I thought that group classes epitomized the one-size-fits-nobody education that I detested.

But from ideas that came from a few curriculum consulting projects, conversations with students, and conversations with parents, I realized that a group class could theoretically have the individualization that made education worthwhile.

My Vohra Method group classes were based on the idea of a Nonlinear, Responsive curriculum. Tutoring is good because it is nonlinear (you can jump backwards to fix gaps) and responsive (when you see a problem, you can fix it). In most group classes, you can’t do that. They plod along linearly, ignoring the struggles of individual students, ignoring the fact that the advanced students are bored. But I realized that if a group class was nonlinear and responsive, it could be incredible.

Originally, the group classes were done in-person, and used modular worksheets to give students what they actually needed. A student who made a mistake in factoring got a factoring worksheet. A student who made a mistake in adding fractions got an adding fractions worksheet.

Today, my group classes are online and quite a bit more advanced than that, using bespoke tools designed specifically for my unique teaching approach. In my group classes you:

  1. Fill every underlying gap. Our careful diagnostics find what most diagnostics miss, and then we fix them.
  2. Learn direct solutions to the hardest problems. Once we’ve fixed your gaps, you can actually solve tough questions without relying on inefficient workarounds.
  3. Increase your speed. Speed comes from efficiency and elegance. Learning to solve a math problem in 5 steps instead of 50 steps can make you 10 times faster…and 10 times less tired.

Tough Questions

I believe in overtraining. You don’t train for a mile run by running a mile; you train for a mile run by running 3 miles. In my SAT classes, I use advanced material to help students learn to think through the hardest problems that can appear on the SAT.

Some questions come from previous SATs. Others come from the LSAT, GRE, or GMAT. The toughest questions are designed by me. The result: my students easily vanquish the hardest questions on the SAT.

Other Courses

AP Integrated Humanities

Prerequisite: Vohra Method SAT Verbal OR demonstrated exceptional reading, grammar, and writing skills

AP History exams aren’t tests of memorization. In other words, if you’re taking AP World History, you don’t have to memorize the entire history of the world. Instead, they are based on reading comprehension. Multiple choice questions are about passages, just like on the SAT or ACT. Essays are based on documents presented in the test itself. Doing well on an AP history exam has very little to do with how much you memorize, and everything to do with how well you read and write.

AP English exams are the same. There’s no memorization required. They are tests of critical reading and analytical writing, not memorization.

Here’s what that means. If you get your reading and writing skills to a high enough level, you’ll be ready for all AP History and English exams. If you can read and write well enough, you can do well on all 8 AP History and English exams.

I created AP Integrated Humanities to help you do just that. It’s a single intensive course that prepares you for 8 AP exams. It focuses on the advanced reading and writing skills that determine success on these exams. Thus, while your competitors squander their time and energy on memorization, you focus on the skills that matter most.

Summer Preview Courses: BC Calculus, AP Physics, Chemistry, and AP Biology

I’ve worked with a lot of valedictorians…and a lot of remedial students. They have something in common: they both do academic work over the summer. The difference is that remedial students do last year’s work over the summer. Valedictorians do next year’s work over the summer.

My summer preview courses help you get ahead over the summer, and then dominate the class during the school year. Your school never finds out that you took the course; they just think you’re a genius, and write that on your official recommendation letters to college.

While everyone else struggles to learn the material, you’ve already mastered it. You become the only student who gets the challenge questions on tests right. Because you understand the material, you’re the only student who can complete your homework without AI, further reinforcing your advantage. The year ends with high grades, an amazing recommendation letter in the bag, and sometimes even some good news at the end-of-year awards ceremony.

Try it before you commit to a block.

Group classes run in 12 week blocks, 4 hours/week. Each block is $1800. A full SAT program is generally 4-8 blocks. AP Integrated Humanities is also around 4-8 blocks. Summer Preview courses are usually 1 block.

The SAT Guarantee

  1. You complete the program OR do 432 hours of SAT group class training (nine 12-week blocks).
  2. After that, you sit for two official SAT exams.
  3. If your superscore is below 1550, you get additional SAT group classes for free until your superscore is 1550 or above.

The Rules

You cannot use AI during any class. If you get caught once, you lose the guarantee. If you get caught twice, you get kicked out of the program without a refund. I use an enhanced AI detection system that catches what most AI detectors miss.

We have no “qualifying score” requirement. Most companies with a 1500 guarantee require a 1400+ starting score. We don’t. Our program is so good that no matter what your starting score is, we will get you to a 1550+ SAT score. Ready to see what that level of education looks like? Book a free consultation.
